Anansi Boys
Saturday, July 22nd, 2006Well, just finished Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys - a very good book indeed, much like anything I’ve read of Gaimans.
Hope he writes a follow-up of it - more West African mythology in books would be good.

Well, I’m awake - had a lie in and feel slightly more awake for it though no less depressed. Yes, i got depressed last night. What else is new.
While having my morning/afternoon bath I finished Angie Sage’s Flyte - her second book about the boy-wizard Septimus Heap. Yes, it is a book aimed at children, but because of it it’s light reading and allows me to fit it in nicely when I have the odd-half-hour. Was leant to me by a dear friend - she recommended them to me.
Tonight shall mainly be taken up with laundry for work on Monday, and possibly having something to eat. Although I’m still mostly full from the green thai curry Ni cooked last night.
That’s better!
I tried reading Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code before, but couldn’t get into either the characters or the flow of the novel. Now, having read Angels and Demons it was much easier and only tooke me a few sessions to read form cover to cover.
Again, not a breath-takingly awesome book, but very enjoyable. I did enjoy the twist as to who the mastermind was and I can genuinely say I didn’t see it coming. Although, I have been under the weather recently
After I finish my current Dune Saga re-read, I’m wondering what to move on to next!
I awoke this morning (and actually morning, rather than afternoon as I am more accustomed to) with an almost excrutiating pain around the base of the back of my neck. Expecting I just slept badly, I retired to the bath for a leisurely few hours.
I finished reading Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons. It’s the book he wrote previous to the Da Vinci Code (yeah, you’ve heard of that one!) and as I’ve been urged by a very good frend of mine (hi if you’re reading, gentle^star!) it needs to be read before Da Vinci in order to understand the nuances of plot and character.
All in all, I found the book very enjoyable and have finished reading it. Was particularly impressed with the ambigrams (especially the one at the end of the copy I was reading with the title of the book).
However, I now find that my neck pain refuses to leave and I am finding it very difficult to think or function today because of it! I hope it clears up soon enough, as I have a phonecall to make at 1500hrs!
