Yearly update? Oh go on!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Well, it seems I best make a post on the ol’ ZRN Network to let you know that I am still alive and kicking.

Life has been good, despite a worry this month that I may have to seek new accomodations (my housemate lost their job, but has managed to get timely new employment!) so I’m all good on the home front.

On the relationship front myself and the beautiful Heather remain very much in love and things couldn’t be happier (apart from that ocean thing!)

On the tabletop roleplay front, the WHFRP has stopped for the most part even though the campaign remains unfinished since we can’t all seem to get into the same room at the same time. Mike has started a new 4E Forgotten Realms campaign that runs almost once a week so I’m sated on the tabletop front (L4 Elf Rogue right now).

On the Live Roleplay front, I’ve not been to a single event this year as I can’t come up with a good character concept to suck me back into the game. Mike has the same problem but we’re planning on the Big G so need a concept sharpish. Anyone out in LARP Land got ideas?

Other than that, yeah - still here!

Update Time!

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

Well, thought I’d update y’all with how things are trucking in my half of the world. Especially since I’ve just activated mirroring over to LJ where a number of people I know do tend to lurk.

Winter so far has been wet, cold, and cheap. Yep, I’m not putting my head out the house, or spending any money that isn’t needed for bills or food. Okay, so this isn’t completely as fun-less as it sounds since my City of Heroes/Villains account is plenty active - latest character to the stable is “Bound Lich” (a hero, believe it or not!)

Otherwise, I am spending as much time with Heather as I can - relationships split up by oceans are not something I recommend seeking out :) Of course, if you find your perfect partner overseas, don’t let go!

Well, ’tis late - just finished a Task Force. Night!

Heatwave

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

Gah - for the last week the UK has been almost unbearable! I’ve had to escalate the war on heat from a fan to an air cooler. Still, at least I’m not melting!

In Warhammer news, the campaign moves on with our intrepid bunch having cleared out a nest of Goblins and now heading in pursuit of an evil cultist to a crater in the north.

Not much. Heat has fried the synapses!

Family Guy Season Five good.

Sunday Update

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Well, freshly bathed and refreshed after seven days straight at work I sit in front of my computer, delete my daily spam and turn to you gentle readers of my life. All none of you!

Still, nice to get my thoughts out in the open any-hoo. Such as the latest with The Enemy Within campaign. My Grave Robber-turned-Cat Burglar has finally earned his reputation by robbing a moderately wealthy merchants house. Net gain was almost 200 gold crowns, some gems and a couple of bits of jewellry. Had a little trouble with the Watch, but outran them fine!

And at work, myself and my colleague Steve have been working on a web tool. It’s not fancy, but its smart looking and will do the job a treat. Hoping our annual bonuses are in the bag for that!

Now, to ponder what to do on Monday and Tuesday… the cinema may be calling!

Death on the Reik Pt I

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

The Enemy Within Campaign moves on apace as our valiant party (now an Outlaw, Toll Keeper, Spy and myself a Cat Burglar) flee Bogenhafen. Half a days travel later (and a few mutants dispatched) sees us in the possession of a boat, replete with cargo of wool.

Quick travel to Weissbruck gets us involved with rescuing a local herbalist from some gang members, before hiring an actual boatman for the journey to Altdorf. Once in Altdorf we made a few purchases, and took on another cargo - this one bound for Kemperbad. That was the session pretty much in a nutshell.

Other points of note for my character - harassed by some more Purple Hand nuts (who made my hand purple!), found my name on a Wanted poster (20GC on my head, not bad… I’m holding out for more!)

Next session due Thursday next!

Shadows over Bogenhafen

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

Well, finished another roleplay session in the wonderful world of Warhammer. Today saw the completion of the Shadows over Bogenhafen adventure (converted to version 2 by Mike) which netted me enough experience points not only to switch to the Cat Robber career, but also to take a couple of statistic advancements (Agility) and new Skills (Concealment, Pick Lock) and Talents (Trapfinder).

Also managed to make my first break-in this session but alas was into a warehouse full of trade goods so nothing good to loot. And along with firsts, I managed to net two Insanity Points.

The Sunday session has been moved to Tuesdays to compensate for Mike being away for the next few weeks which means we move over to Death on the Reik in two days time. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to do some proper thieving now I can break and enter, as well as keep fairly hidden. Fun times - only 1500 XP to get to Master Thief or Fence (not decided which yet!)

Flying Solo

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Irritating facts…

  1. This is the second weekend on the trot I’ve had to work
  2. Both weekends have had lovely weather I’d have liked to been out in
  3. Today, my erstwhile partner for the weekend called in sick
  4. This morning, the phones were ludicrously busy for a Saturday

This does not a happy Andy make.

On the upside, I’ev watched Doctor Who as I always do of a weekend (whether it be on Saturday or Sunday after “borrowing a copy”) and found it a little fragmented. Not particularly bad, just fragmented.

Spending my evening watching the ever excellent Firefly so no great shakes - can’t do much else seeing how I have work tomorrow as well.

Also, irritatingly, City of Villains still reuses to play correctly on my PC since the last patch or two - apparently the devs have tracked down a problem and a fix is coming but… well, it ain’t here yet!

A Testament to How Frequent…

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

… I don’t update my journal!

Yes, I’ve not written anything for months, since really nothing notable has happened in that time. Been to a live roleplay event, finished the Ravenloft Campaign, started the Warhammer Campaign, chatted to people online, attended my new job regularly, overcome the infection of my gums.

Fairly full schedule of not much happening.

Auto Assault Clan

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

A while back, in my fit of trying to find a MMORPG to follow post-suspension of Imperator I set up shop temporarily in NCsoft/NetDevil’s Auto Assault forums. I decided against the US servers since there was to be a simultaneous US/EU Launch and set to creating a clan.

Unfortunately, the interest was relatively low and while I left the site and forum languishing I had little more to do with it as my involvement with the City of Villains beta drew my interest and recaptured me (I had gone stale on City of Heroes).

I meandered across the forums of Auto Assault UK again today (browsing through my links in Firefox) and found there’d been a little further interest in my Biomek Clan. I’m sorry people, it’s not going to happen - I have now removed the (sub)domain and site so that people can’t get their hopes up.

Kinda lost all interest when I got in on one of their beta weekends, and just didn’t enjoy the game much. Probably because I’ve never been much of a racing game fan, and hence am “missing out” on the driving fun part of it. Too complex driving in one direction and attacking 360 degrees with a turret as well.

I think Tabula Rasa is going to be the next game I look in depth at. Reminds me of Planetside, which I loved. of course, need more details first!
